This special screening of Blue Velvet will recreate for one night only the experience of old fashioned movie magic: when an admission ticket to the local picture palace guaranteed you a cartoon, a funny ‘short subject’, a supporting film and a feature presentation all for the cost of admission.
Blue Velvet (1986)is arguably Lynch’s most iconic film, described by critics as a seminal and disturbing masterpiece that changed cinema forever. Supporting the main feature is a programme of specially selected shorts from a variety of artist-filmmakers including David Shrigley and Shezad Dawood. The event takes place at The Empire, Middlesbrough’s opulent Victorian palace of varieties, creating the perfect environment for a dark and diverse cinematic experience.
This event is 18+ and contains strong language and scenes of a violent and sexual nature.
