New Zealand/Australia/India 2014
This special screening, organised in partnership with Edinburgh Art Festival, coincides with the exhibition ‘Where do I end and you begin’ at City Art Centre.
For his first feature-length film, New Zealand artist Gavin Hipkins creates a rich pictorial essay inspired by Samuel Butler’s utopian satire Erewhon (1872). The film follows its narrator from a high country sheep station to a fictional society where machines are banished for fear of their becoming conscious.
The screening will be introduced by director Gavin Hipkins and followed by a Q&A.
