From a look at the Columbine High School security camera tapes to the home of Oscar-winning NRA President Charlton Heston, from a young man who makes homemade napalm with The Anarchist’s Cookbook to the murder of a six-year-old girl by another six-year-old. The key to understanding the american dream (or nightmare?)
This movie makes me feel that it is the first time i just remotely understand the American society. Michael Moore explores the darkest side of America – the society built on fear. Fear of terrorists, fear of the coloureds fear of your neighbor. It appears that americans have lost perspective, not noticing the real dangers of life: pollution, traffic, e.t.c. With TV-channels telling stories only about violence and terrorism and populistic politicians scaring people to vote for them Americans trust only in themselves.

Michael Moore tries with this movie to make the Americans consider and think for themselves being rationals, and to tell the rest of the world how the American society works. Really something to think about… See it, its necessary

Right-wing viewers will balk early, leaving Michael Moore preaching to the already-converted
Sly documentarian Michael Moore examines America’s fascination with guns (and not just its fascination, but also its fear of violence and race relations brought on by the media, by entertainment, by politics, and by poverty). There’s a lot to engage your mind here (old film clips, Columbine High School security-camera footage, an animated look at the History of America, a funny segue to Canada where the gun-violence rate is much lower, etc.). Still, Moore’s “ambushing” style can be excruciating to watch, especially when he takes two Columbine survivors to the headquarters of K-Mart (who sold the bullets) and makes everybody there REALLY uncomfortable. I’m not sure Moore’s sincerity is always 100% true, but he is a tireless worker, deadpan sarcastic and ironic with his presentation, and seemingly unafraid to defend the little guy. He’s a definite left-wing liberal, and that will turn some viewers off, but those who stay will get an interesting dose of Moore’s world–and he has the power to open minds when he’s not wearing out his topic. **1/2 from ****
