I don’t at all dislike War films, but they’re also not of a genre that is particularly close to my heart. Danger Close didn’t do anything for me that changed that, but, if you’re a fan, and are interested in the ever-elusive “Anything other than the Yanks in WWII/Vietnam or the Brits in WWI/WWII”, you could do a lot worse than give _Danger Close_ a chance, but if you’re looking for strong characterisation, you could do better too.
_Final rating:★★½ – Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._
‘Danger Close’ is an epic recount of the Battle of Long Tan with no Hollywood exaggerations, no excuses for narrative cuts, and no colourful tie-ins. Kriv Stenders has created a film that explores inherit Australian values, history and entertainment – whilst encapsulating friendship, and a modernised respect to the ANZACs.

Very good work
It was very interesting and I feIt to be directly on the battle field. I bought the dvd cause i have read many good reviews about this true Vietnam war movie. The special effects were really well done and the soldiers delivered a top performance. The cinematography is very good too. The story shows how the very young Australian army planned the combat against the Vietcongs. Don’t miss this if you are interested in this genre of films. Check the other one with Mel Gibson We Were Soldiers. 7/10.
At first I thought this was going to be “another one of those” fictional, lot of “artistic license (twisting the truth)”, propaganda movies.
“I Was Only 19 (A Walk in the light green”, age 18 “Drafted”, killed human (Vietcong), age 19 E-6 Platoon Sergeant U. S. Army Special Forces Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol Platoon killed human being North Vietnamese Soldier, was calling in air strikes on Ho Chi Minh Trail, thousands killed.
Too true of Conventional Forces, no matter how much training, they stand up and get shot.
Accurate, the M-16s, had to look close, did not have a “Forward Assist” lever.
To become a U.S. Army Special Forces Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol Team Member, Airborne (included Air Mobile today’s Air Assault) —>U.S. Army Ranger—>U.S. Army Special Forces—>U.S. Army Special Forces Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol, each school was “In Country” near Enemy Occupied “Free Fire Zones”
One thing that most U.S. Conventional Warfare Forces learned, was to NOT “run out of ammo”, three bandoleers, each bandoleer had 7 boxes of 20 rounds, 420 rounds, the M-16 and CAR-15 used 20 round magazines, additionally the ammo pouches had 3 x 20 round magazines , 60 rounds, usually two ammo pouches per “grunt” (Conventional Warfare Infantry). 120 rounds. Most were never trained to use the adapter and the speed loader clip that the rounds came on in the cardboard boxes of the bandoleers, and instead took too long loading one round at a time into magazines.
U.S. Democrats demanded “Save the Democracy of the REPUBLIC of South Vietnam War”. That was not the Real Reason, what was, was the World’s Resource of Rubber of the French Rubber Tree Plantations, same as the Great British Colonial Empire’s Rubber Tree Plantations at British Colony of Burma prior to World War 2, WW2 being the Second War for the World’s Resources (Oil, Rubber). WW1 being the First War for the World’s Resources (Coal, Iron, Rubber).
