Difficult to watch
Great acting, but for me it was difficult and painful to watch. The plot, combined with the way it was filmed, these weird angels, it was a bit too much.

I Hate Giving Bad Reviews
I didn’t dislike this movie. It has a good storyline and some incredibly emotional scenes. Adam Driver does an amazing job portraying Jude- a father who is conflicted between pleasing his wife and saving his son- and I believe his performance makes the movie. However throughout the film the camera is inconsistent and shaky. Especially toward the middle where they seem to switch to a round camera lens for a scene. It distorts the actors features while pulling the audience away from story. They also seem to use a handheld camera frequently, this leads to a shaky or constantly moving image. This can be quite effective – like in the 2012 hunger games- but here it is used incorrectly and too frequently. Especially during close ups, where the camera is moving so much that it is unable to focus. The scene transitions were also very abrupt and disconnected. In addition I disliked how the soundtrack would come in and out at random times. Normally the soundtrack would be playing under an entire scene mostly unrecognized by the audience; however, here the music only pops up for 3 to 4 seconds during an intense scene then abruptly cuts out, only for the same sound to return a scene later. These things and more constantly drew my attention away from the scene and made me cringe, but I recognize that these are faults of the director and production staff and not the actors. This was obviously a movie early on in peoples careers, and though it is not the best it is still a fine movie for a Saturday afternoon.
