This is an excellent look at the effects of chronic trauma, particularly on children. It is a documentary set in war-torn Syria, but it could be set on a Nebraska farm, or a New York tenement, where children might be surrounded by chronic violence. Studying the long term effects of this kind of trauma is informative and critical to understanding, intervening, and helping all of our children to survive and thrive.

This beautifully crafted film is a must see. The respectful interviews of victims of toxic stress enable us to witness the trauma of war and violence. The researchers and Mercy Corps are helping those in need and show us how we can turn our knowledge into the power of healing.
