He sees that Marathi people don’t have any respect and are made to do all odd works. With a few people, he starts to help the needy and gains respect. To fight for the rights he also goes against the law and comes in the eye of politics. After entering politics he starts his own party named after Shivaji Maharaj as Shiv Sena. After giving Marathi Manoos his equal rights his only wish is that one day the Chief Minister of Maharashtra should be a Marathi Manoos.
Plot: Based on the life of Keshav Thackeray, an Indian politician who is also known as Balasaheb Thackeray.

Not up to the MARK
Most of the movie stays in BW format before the interval. The movie fails to create any justification with the titular character. The storyline deviates from the actual plot without a moral. Lack of songs and single Background Score also brings down an entire movie. Although the dialogues and screenplay was commendable. Actor Nawazuddin gives one of the career best performace on the celluloid. Amrita Rao fails to make her cameback. Direction was also above average and some parts were applaudable.

Never Heard of Him
I’m very far from an expert on India or Indian history. My limited knowledge comes from some reading, two weeks on the ground, and a few hundred Indian films. I’d never heard of Thackeray until I saw a thumbnail. IMHO, Indian films often get inflated ratings, so I was inclined to let his one go at 5.1. But I also noticed it was a love it or hate it, so I gave it a try. Delighted- by the main actor, by what I learned, by the street scenes and other views of Indian life. Good film making! Can’t wait for part II. As regarding historical accuracy or responsibility, I have no way of knowing. Wikipedia wasn’t very much help!
